Origin: a sport of Early Red One
Jeromine is a bud sport of the cultivar Early Red One. That in turn is a spur-type sport of the Red Delicious type, found at Erovan, France.
Breeding and licensing of the cultivar were handled by the nurseries Pépinières du Valois and MFS, later by Dalival and IFO.
Fruit and harvest window
The fruit colour is intense dark red; the flesh is white and sweet, with low acidity. Harvest falls at the same time as Golden Delicious.
For a block of red and yellow apples, compare it with Golden Delicious Rangers, a Golden Delicious sport with smoother skin.

Storage and diseases
In an ordinary cold room the fruit keeps until about February, in a controlled-atmosphere (CA) room until about June. The exact period depends on the regime and maturity at picking.
The cultivar is susceptible to scab and to European canker. Protection against both diseases should be built into the spray scheme.
Jeromine in the red apple segment
Growers take Jeromine for the dark fruit colour in the red apple segment, where colour and sweetness matter. If scab protection is your priority, compare it with Inored Story, which resists that disease. Write to the trade desk and we will pick Jeromine pollinizers together.
Z5–Z8 is the winter hardiness of the tree on the USDA scale, that is, by minimum temperatures. Seasonal humidity and scab pressure are not reflected, and for a scab-susceptible cultivar they are significant data for your district.
