Summit: origin and fruit
Summit was bred at a station in Summerland, Canada: the Van × Sam cross was made in the 1950s, selection followed in the 1960s and the cultivar received its name in the 1970s. The fruit is very large and heart-shaped with good flavour and fair resistance to cracking.
