The republic’s orchards and the programme to 2030

According to 2025 data, Chechnya has 3.7 thousand ha of orchards, 3.1 thousand ha of them apple. The expected 2025 harvest was about 25 thousand t of fruit from roughly 2.76 thousand ha, with more than 22 thousand t of it apples.

An agrocomplex in the Groznensky district has 50 ha of intensive and 70 ha of traditional orchards, and 3.5 thousand t of fruit were expected there in 2023. The tree count for an intensive orchard is worked out in how many saplings per hectare.

A dry plain and a zone of about 7

The Grozny station records 439 mm of precipitation a year, a January mean of −3.2 °C and an absolute minimum of −31.5 °C. That is half the precipitation of the Vladikavkaz foothill station, which gets 883 mm a year.

On the caudex.ru list Grozny sits at roughly zone 7. Every matched cultivar has a range of Z4–Z8 or Z5–Z8, so that zone falls inside it.

Harvest timing from Geneva to Fuji

The match for Chechnya spans the whole season, from summer cultivars to late ones, and an orchard of several groups spreads out picking.

Late cultivars and why Pink Lady is left out

Granny Smith needs a long season and a mild climate, Fuji a warm summer, and in a zone of about 7 the nursery kept both in the match. They store for a long time, Granny Smith up to a year under controlled atmosphere.

Pink Lady is not in the match for Chechnya because it is picked in late October and early November and grows on a long season in a hot climate. Greenstar was bred at Sint-Truiden in Belgium from a cross of Delcorf and Granny Smith, and its fruit is yellow-green with white flesh.

Sweet cherry and irrigation

The five cherry cultivars stand on Gisela 5 and Gisela 6 rootstocks. Gisela 5 needs irrigation and Gisela 6 is sensitive to heat, so in a dry climate the rootstock is chosen with the trade desk; the comparison is in Gisela 5 or Gisela 6, and the rootstock properties are in the rootstock catalogue.

Sweet Lorenz ripens well ahead of Lapins, Lapins is picked 10–14 days after Bing, and Ferrovia has a firm skin that stands transport well. Of the five, only Lapins is self-fertile, so we will pick a pair of pollinizers for the others together with you.

Pickup and lot calculation

Grozny is about 250 km from the nursery in a straight line, and your truck or a hired carrier collects a lot of 6,000 saplings or more. Lifting runs in October–November and in March–April, and the dispatch routine is on the yard process page.

Prices on 9 October 2026 include VAT. A knip apple tree on M9 costs RUB 360 in grade 1+, RUB 400 in 3+ and RUB 450 in 5+, and a cherry sapling on Gisela 5 or 6 costs RUB 800. A lot of 6,000 grade 3+ saplings comes to 6,000 × 400 = RUB 2,400,000, paid 30% on signing and 70% 10 days before shipment.
